Christmas in Spain

Just posting a few pics from our hostal room in Granada.  We might write text once we get back to Cairo.  Click on the pictures to view a slideshow with captions!

Madrid train station - we're beyond ecstatic about the green-ness and public space behind us
view out our bedroom window at the timeshare in Benalmedena. The Mediterranean is just to the left, I missed getting it in the pic.

the beach five minutes from the timeshare we stayed in
Justin making egg-nog. Six euro local brandy turned out to be excellent. The whipping took forever so we played rounds of Speed (card game) where loser had to whip.

the BBQ coals were real wood and put off a very pretty glow
Christmas day. The candles in the fireplace are arranged like Advent candles. With the center Christmas candle lit! Since the stockings represented four of us we turned the name-side to the back.

Justin and I took a day trip to Ronda per a friend, Noah's, suggestion. It was BEAUTIFUL. A muslim Moorish city and one time, it was taken by the Catholics in the 1400s.
eating a Polvoron in Ronda
I forgot to mention I'm obsessed with these Spanish powdery cookies, Polvoron
the bridge over the gorge in Ronda
windy back-streets of Ronda
a street in the new part of Ronda
The bus ride up the mountains to Ronda from the coast was just a little bit windy. Good thing we had our trusty handles.

Nativity inside the Cathedral in Malaga. These ornate, complex natavities were everywhere and people go as families with kids and grandparents and wait in long lines to see the church ones like this one.
